Adding Clean Energy to Maryland's Grid
Dan’s Mountain Wind uses the abundant, natural wind resources of Allegany County, adding clean, reliable, and cost-effective energy to the grid. By tapping into this limitless power, this project aligns with Maryland’s goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045. It contributes to the reduction of the overall carbon footprint and the enhancement of the sustainability of Maryland’s energy system.
Supporting the Local Economy
Dan’s Mountain Wind serves as more than just a producer of clean, reliable energy. It will significantly boost the local economy of Allegany County, introducing new income streams for landowners and creating opportunities for local businesses and service providers. The project is expected to create over one hundred construction jobs and several permanent operation positions. Finally, Dan’s Mountain Wind will yield millions in additional tax revenue for Allegany County over the life span of the project, providing long-term funding for schools, hospitals, infrastructure, public safety services, and other county priorities fostering overall economic growth.
Reducing Energy Costs
The Dan's Mountain Wind Project contributes to stabilizing energy prices by supplying a cost-effective source of power. Wind energy, being a renewable resource, mitigates the price volatility often associated with fossil fuels. This helps in reducing long-term energy costs for consumers and businesses in Allegany County and beyond, making power more affordable for all.
Driving Energy Independence with Local Resources
By harnessing the wind in Allegany County, Dan’s Mountain Wind contributes to Maryland's energy independence. Utilizing local, renewable resources reduces our reliance on foreign energy sources and creates a more secure energy future for our country. Moreover, every kilowatt generated here supports domestic industry, strengthens the local economy, and champions American innovation in the renewable energy sector.
Preserving the Land
Unlike many other energy sources, with construction of wind turbines much of the land remains available for traditional purposes such as farming or ranching. Wind farms like Dan’s Mountain Wind harmoniously coexist with local ecosystems, preserving the natural beauty of Allegany County. Additionally, Dan's Mountain Wind creates new income streams for landowners leasing their land, helping them to keep generational land in the family, all while producing electricity for their community. Our commitment to land stewardship ensures that we minimize our footprint, protect wildlife and preserve biodiversity, maintaining the integrity of the land for future generations.
