Harnessing the power of the Allegheny Front winds, Dan’s Mountain Wind is a 55-megawatt wind project, located in Allegany County. This project will generate enough reliable energy to power 24,400 homes each year. Situated on 2,800 acres of privately owned and reclaimed coal strip land, this wind farm will provide low-cost, reliable energy and create long-lasting economic benefits for the region. Dan’s Mountain Wind will begin operating in 2024.  

Clearway Energy Group is one of the largest developers and operators of clean energy in the United States with over 8 gigawatts of wind, solar, energy storage, and natural gas generation in operation.

Contributing to the Allegany County Economy

Dan’s Mountain Wind will generate clean and affordable energy for the community and bring major economic benefits to the region. Clearway is partnering with local landowners, businesses, and the community with a focus on local spending and generating millions of dollars in tax revenue.   Upon operations, Dan’s Mountain Wind community benefits program will allocate $10,000 annually in grants to local organizations that serve the community. Dan’s Mountain Wind is expected to create more than one hundred union construction jobs and several permanent service operation positions paying family wages. The project represents a $180-million-dollar investment in the economy of Allegany County.
